TITLE:  Cafeteria Worker 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assume the responsibilities and duties designated by the manager. The staff employee is supervised by the manager or assistant manager and performs duties such as safe preparation and handling of food, cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and facilities, serving of food, cashiering and record keeping as required, and other related work as required.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Each worker shall be able to read, write and comprehend weights and measures on standardized recipes
  2. Ability and willingness to follow instructions, either written or verbal
  3. Willingness to work in any situation when production kitchen is involved
  4. Emotional stability and physical fitness to perform duties assigned at sufficient speed to carry out an efficient operation
  5. Personal standards of appearance and dress code commensurate with those required by food service
  6. Interest in food preparation and service
  7. Courtesy and tact in dealing with people
  8. Interest in children and school programs
  9. Desire to put forth best effort in all assigned duties
  10. Ability to perform physical work such as lifting fifty (50) pounds frequently, moving heavy supplies and equipment, and continuous standing
  11. Ability and willingness to learn prescribed food preparation methods
  12. Ability to furnish own transportation
  13. Jefferson County School District reserves the right to require a health certificate
  14. Must clear a federal fingerprint background check and child abuse registry check

 
REPORTS TO:
Cafeteria Manager and/or Director and Assistant Director of Child Nutrition and/or Principal
 
JOB GOAL:
To serve the students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform efficiently and to the best of his/her ability the duties assigned in relation to the preparation of food, serving of food, cleaning all areas of the kitchen, or other assigned duties in the time allotted
  2. Attend training meetings as required
  3. Report to work at the designated time and remain on the job until dismissed by the manager
  4. Notify the manager by 6:00 a.m. on the day to be missed due to illness
  5. Maintain pleasant working relations with fellow employees by showing consideration for others, patience, respect, self-control, and other desirable character traits
  6. Maintain desirable relations between school and community
  7. Follow all policies of the JCSD Board of Education and instructions of the manager relating to safety measures, sanitation practices, personal standards, work techniques, and methods of performing duties
  8. Perform duties involved in the safe preparation and handling of food, cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and facilities, and serving of food
  9. Maintain the trash and garbage collection area in a neat and sanitary fashion
  10. Perform other duties as assigned
